Rwandan government has issued a sharp call for accountability in the United States-backed peace process with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), warning that the diplomatic efforts must deliver concrete results regardless of Kinshasa’s reluctance.

Yolande Makolo, the Spokesperson for the Government of Rwanda, stressed that the U.S.-facilitated path to peace “must yield results regardless of the circumstances.” Her statement comes as a direct critique of the Congolese government, which she accused of “continuing to drag its feet” after reportedly refusing to sign a key economic cooperation agreement.
The remarks underscore Kigali’s frustration with the slow pace of dialogue, signaling that while Rwanda remains committed to the U.S.-led diplomatic framework, it will not tolerate indefinite delays from the Congolese side.
