Former President Donald Trump on Monday urged House Republicans to shift their attention away from the renewed push to release files connected to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, calling the focus a political “trap” engineered by Democrats.

In a statement, Trump said he supports holding a vote to release the documents, insisting Republicans have “nothing to hide.” But he simultaneously dismissed the controversy as a “Democratic Hoax perpetrated by Radical Left Lunatics,” arguing it is designed to divert attention from what he described as recent Republican policy victories, including the avoidance of a government shutdown.
Although he noted that the Justice Department has already released “tens of thousands of pages” that he claims include names of Democratic figures, Trump said the details were irrelevant to the GOP’s broader agenda. “I don’t care,” he wrote. “All I care about is that Republicans get back on point.”
Trump urged Republicans to prioritize economic policy, additional tax cuts, military expansion, border security, and stricter immigration enforcement. He also reiterated his opposition to transgender women competing in women’s sports.
Calling the current debate a “curse on the Democrats,” Trump warned that Republicans risk being “used” if they allow the Epstein issue to dominate their agenda.
